Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has undergone surgery to relieve a pinched nerve after numbness affected his arm, hand and fingers following a performance last month.
The 50-year-old musician shared the health update on Instagram Stories, saying he chose the procedure so he could keep playing drums.
Barker revealed the surgery a day after posting hospital photos that included his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, and his daughter, Alabama Barker.
In the images, Kardashian smiled beside her husband, who wore a hospital gown, surgical cap and white identification band.
Why Barker Needed the Procedure
The procedure, known as cubital tunnel release, is used to relieve pressure on a nerve at the elbow.
Cubital tunnel syndrome can cause numbness, particularly in the little and ring fingers.
Barker described his symptoms and the results of a recent medical examination.
"I did a nerve test Monday after my show and turns out I needed a cubital tunnel release to fix the nerve," Barker wrote.
He said he wanted to address the condition promptly because he intends to keep performing for years to come.
"I wanted to get ahead of it and get it over with so that I can keep playing the way I play for a long, long time," Barker wrote.
In a separate message, he expressed optimism about returning to normal activity within weeks.
"Should be good in a few weeks," Barker wrote.
Barker also joked about Kardashian's expression in the hospital photograph.
"Not sure why my wife looks so happy about this," Barker wrote in the caption.
The surgery follows an earlier injury that also threatened Barker's ability to play drums.
In early February 2023, he described a finger injury sustained during rehearsal that left the finger dislocated and its ligaments torn.
"I was playing the drums at rehearsals yesterday and I smashed my finger so hard I dislocated it and tore the ligaments," Barker wrote on X.
Days later, Barker shared an Instagram video showing a medical worker attempting to put the injured finger back into place.
By March 2023, he had undergone surgery to repair the damaged ligament.
At the time, Barker explained that surgical treatment was necessary for him to continue performing without the injury recurring.
"It was a hard decision to make but ultimately I couldn't continue to play the drums without it," Barker wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to the doctor who treated him.
"It was inevitable that my finger would have dislocated again without fixing the torn ligament surgically.
So grateful for Dr. Shin and that my surgery was a success so that I can keep doing what I love and see you guys on tour soon," Barker wrote.
