"It's definitely something that's come up before," Gasser said. "I thought I had a good grip on it and was covering it up.
Maybe they had something. Maybe not."
Gasser accepted responsibility for the location of the home run ball to Hernández, noting the execution was flawed regardless of any signaling.
Pages denied deciphering specific signs during the matchup, according to a report by Jack Harris of the California Post, but stated he intentionally uses gestures to disrupt opposing pitchers' concentration.
"No, not on that one," Pages said when asked if he deserved an assist for the home run.
He joked about past instances where he successfully conveyed pitch information to teammates from the basepaths.
Pages maintained that gamesmanship on the field serves as a legitimate competitive tool to disrupt a pitcher's timing.
"It's part of the competition, doing stuff like that, just distracting the pitcher, kind of getting him out of rhythm," Pages said.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts defended Pages during an interview on SportsNet LA, asserting that simulating or executing sign-stealing falls within permissible baseball rules and provides a psychological advantage.
"All teams do it.
Whether you have them to disguise or act like you have them, the gamesmanship part of it," Roberts said.
"If you can make a pitcher feel you've got their signs, then you've already won."
