The result pulled the Diamondbacks into a tie with the Padres for second place in the NL West.

Arenado's Key Blast
Nolan Arenado hit his 11th home run of the season off Yuki Matsui with two outs in the sixth inning.
The solo shot proved to be the decisive run.
The home run was Arenado's 17th at Petco Park, the most by any visiting player at the venue.
He is now six hits away from reaching 2,000 career hits.
Strong Pitching Performance
Starting pitcher Merrill Kelly improved to 7-8 on the season. He allowed just one run and three hits over seven innings while striking out six batters.

San Diego's only run came in the second inning on a leadoff home run by Manny Machado.
Arizona broke the tie in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Geraldo Perdomo, which drove in the go-ahead run and ended Padres starter Griffin Canning's outing.
Relievers Kevin Ginkel and Paul Sewald closed out the game with perfect innings in the eighth and ninth.
Sewald earned his 21st save of the season.
In upcoming games, Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Diamondbacks against Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers on Friday.
