England defender Reece James made a successful return from a hamstring injury in the team's 2-1 World Cup quarterfinal victory over Norway.

The Chelsea captain came on as a second-half substitute, initially playing in central midfield before moving to right-back.

His return helped Thomas Tuchel's squad secure a semifinal berth against Argentina, scheduled for Wednesday.

James had missed three consecutive matches after sustaining the injury during England's second group-stage game against Ghana.

James on Recovery and Semifinal

"It's good to be back out there with the boys," James told Lions Den about his recovery.

"Picking up an injury at a tournament is always a race against the clock. I applied myself and happy to be back out there."

The victory keeps England's tournament run alive, despite the squad not playing at its peak level throughout the competition.

"It comes with experience.

The higher stakes the game is, the more pressure," James said about the upcoming fixture against the tournament holders.

"We've been doing it for years, the fundamentals are the same, but the prize is slightly different."

The squad is now focusing entirely on their next knockout match while remaining isolated from external media attention.

"We're in a bubble, trying to complete our mission. It's hard to see the outside.

We're happy we're making everyone at home proud," James added.

"This is what dreams are made of. Everyone as a little boy dreamt of playing and winning a World Cup.
