Universitatea Cluj striker Atanas Trica is targeting redemption as his team faces reigning Romanian champions Universitatea Craiova in the Romanian Super Cup on Sunday at the Ion Oblemenco stadium.
The match marks the official start of the 2026-2027 Romanian football season, with the first trophy of the campaign at stake.

The domestic clash follows a tense conclusion to the previous season between Trica's family and a segment of the Craiova fan base.
"This is the best moment for a rematch, because it is the first match of the season.
The Super Cup is now the most important and we want a trophy, especially since last season we lost twice against Craiova.
We want revenge," stated Trica.

The forward, who is the grandson of the legendary Ilie Balaci and son of Eugen Trica, views the upcoming game on his former home turf as a chance to respond directly through his performance on the pitch.
"If in the past it was a special match, now I am used to it. It is a very good team, with a very nice atmosphere.
They are the champions of Romania and I want to steal their first trophy," Trica added.
