Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Artyom Levshunov scored 1:37 into overtime Thursday night, lifting Chicago to a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Chicago.

Patrick Kane set the NHL record for most assists by a U. S.

-born player, breaking Phil Housley's mark with his 895th assist in the first period.

Connor Bedard scored his first goal of the season on the power play after missing the first six games with a shoulder injury.

Frank Nazar and Ryan Donato also scored for Chicago, while Bedard added an assist.

Kane carried the puck into the Jets' zone and dropped it to Bedard, who moved it to Levshunov.

The defenseman advanced up the middle before beating Stuart Skinner with a shot on the glove side.

Chicago goalie Spencer Knight made 31 saves and preserved the game moments before the overtime winner.

He stopped Neal Pionk on a two-on-one after Pionk received Mark Scheifele's cross-ice pass.

Winnipeg's Pionk finished with a goal and two assists, while Kyle Connor and Alex Iafallo also scored.

Connor extended his point streak to four games, with five goals and an assist during the run.

Pionk's point shot deflected off Iafallo's shin and into the net 5:39 into the third period, tying the game at 3.

It was the defenseman's eighth career three-point game.

Skinner stopped 24 shots for Winnipeg, which had entered the matchup with only one loss against Chicago in its previous 10 outings.

That lone defeat was a 2-0 Blackhawks victory on Jan. 19 in Chicago.

The Jets are scheduled to host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. The Blackhawks are scheduled to host the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.
