A Somalia-born British man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians in Ealing Broadway, west London, on Saturday afternoon.

The Metropolitan Police reported that the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p. m.

, leaving five people injured. Three victims were taken to hospital, while two others were treated at the scene.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, according to authorities.

Counter-terrorism officers assisted with initial inquiries, but the Metropolitan Police confirmed the crash is not being treated as a terrorist act.

The suspect was apprehended a short time later in nearby Grange Park.

Investigation Ongoing

Investigators are keeping an open mind regarding the driver's motive as the investigation continues.

"Due to the nature of the incident, local officers were in contact with officers from counter-terrorism policing London as they conducted their initial inquiries," the Metropolitan Police said.

Emergency services closed local roads following the collision to allow specialized teams to examine the scene.
