Jordan's national football team has been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after two consecutive defeats in Group J, ending its historic tournament debut before the final group match against Argentina.

The team finished at the bottom of the group without earning a single point, losing 1-3 to Austria and 1-2 to Algeria.

The expanded 48-team format uses head-to-head results rather than goal difference, sealing Jordan's exit alongside Turkey, Haiti, and Tunisia.

Despite the early exit, Jordan gained international recognition for its conduct after matches.

A FIFA-released video showed the Jordanian team leaving their dressing room spotless, along with gifts and traditional sweets for stadium staff after the Algeria match on June 22.

Weather Disruptions and Other Group J Results

The tournament also faced logistical disruptions due to severe weather in Philadelphia, where the Group A match between France and Iraq was suspended for over two hours.

Safety regulations require matches to halt when lightning strikes within eight miles of a stadium, resetting a 30-minute countdown with each subsequent strike.
