Steur arrived on Tyneside on Wednesday evening to complete his medical examination before finalizing the move to St. James' Park.

He will wear the number 14 shirt for the Magpies.

"It's an incredible feeling to be here," said Steur.

"It's a giant club in the Premier League and it was always my dream to play in the best league in the world."

The young midfielder developed through Ajax's academy, joining the club at age seven.

He made his senior debut and went on to make 25 first-team appearances during his breakout season.

"I was at home at Ajax – I joined when I was seven and I leave with only good memories – but when a club like Newcastle comes for you, it's really hard to say no," Steur added.

"The last few days have gone fast and I'm very happy to join."

Steur described himself as an energetic player who likes to get on the ball and play forward between the lines.

"I'm a player who likes to get on the ball and play forward all the time," he said.

"I'm happy playing between the lines and I feel I have a lot of energy in my game.
