The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 arrives with a fresh twin-turbo V8 and a cabin dripping in opulence, solidifying its status as the most luxurious SUV built in America.
Power comes from a mild-hybrid 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a flat-plane crank, delivering a combined 626 horsepower.

The engine alone produces 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, while the 48-volt system adds 23 hp via an integrated starter generator.
A nine-speed automatic sends power to all four wheels.
Design and Exterior Highlights
The exterior is defined by chrome.
A new bright surround frames the lower grille, and the central grille features vertical slats with illuminated Maybach branding.
The rear gets a chrome-starred taillight design. Optional rose gold accents sit inside the headlights, and a spotlit Mercedes hood ornament is available.
Standard wheels are 22-inch, with optional 23-inch forged chrome wheels featuring a gyroscopic Mercedes star centercap that stays level as the wheel spins.
For those preferring less brightwork, the Night Series Design Package swaps in dark chrome elements and black anodized running boards.

Luxurious Cabin and Technology
Inside, the MBUX Superscreen integrates three 12.3-inch displays under a single pane of glass. Second-row passengers get twin 11.6-inch screens.
New Nappa leather in beech brown and macchiato beige adorns the seats, and a rear fridge includes two bottle holders for champagne.
Additional insulation in the engine bulkhead and transmission tunnel reduces cabin noise. A 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system with a 710-watt amplifier comes standard.
The optional E-Active Body Control system monitors and adjusts suspension forces up to 1,000 times per second.
It includes a predictive setup that preps dampers for upcoming road surfaces, an off-road mode that can lift the vehicle, and a cornering function that leans the GLS into turns by up to three degrees.
Mercedes-Maybach has not announced US pricing, but it is expected to exceed the outgoing GLS 600's $180,000 starting figure.
