Hennessey has teased a new hypercar ahead of Monterey Car Week. Called Project Overlord, it will be the company's second lightweight, driver-focused model.

Founder John Hennessey has previously referred to it as an American Carrera GT. The teaser shows a semi-circular taillight and a black mesh grille at the rear.

Driver-First Philosophy

Little else is revealed in the teaser.

However, Hennessey has described Project Overlord as a “lightweight, high-revving, driver-engaged car” that the firm has long wanted to build.

Like the Venom F5, it will be engineered entirely in-house and not based on any existing performance car.

Hennessey has spent over two years developing this model to sit alongside the F5.

If it is smaller and lighter than the Venom F5, with a simpler powertrain and possibly a manual gearbox, it could rival the Lamborghini Temerario or McLaren 765LT.

Given Hennessey's smaller production scale, expect fewer units and a price exceeding seven figures.

Hennessey will fully unveil Project Overlord on August 3. Hypercar buyers should prepare their finances.
