Genesis is exploring two very different directions for its lineup: a small premium EV and a V8-powered halo car.

The brand's Europe boss confirmed the small EV study, while a mid-engined Magma supercar is also in the works.

Peter Kronschnabl, Managing Director of Genesis Europe, told Autocar that the company is evaluating a model below the GV60.

He said the idea is real but nothing is confirmed yet.

“We’re evaluating this still but [have] nothing to confirm,” Kronschnabl said.

He added that for an evolving brand, it's important to look at fast-growing segments where presence might nurture customers.

Expanding Carefully

Kronschnabl emphasized the need to enter only segments with solid long-term prospects.

He noted that while there is white space, such as a premium pick-up truck, not every opportunity makes sense for the brand.

“You need to be very careful when you look into this white space and not just go there because you believe there is a short-term opportunity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Genesis is also preparing a flagship luxury model: the three-row, all-electric GV90, expected to debut soon. It will sit above the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9.

On the performance side, the Magma GT Concept, previewed last year, points to a V8 mid-engined sports car that could reach production in the coming years.
