"I have supported all our Labour leaders in my lifetime, because I believe a united Labour Party and Labour movement is the best hope for our country," said Burnham.

Indicating an inclusive approach to government appointments, Burnham suggested that his upcoming executive cabinet will incorporate figures from the party's left wing.

"I haven't made any decisions yet about who will be in [the Cabinet], but I will soon.

And when I have, you will see it reflects all parts of our party," said Burnham.

Closing his address, Burnham called for an authentic approach to governance to secure future electoral success.

"From here we do it differently. We win by being us.

Boldly, confidently. Authentically us.

Labour. That's how we win," said Burnham.
