A new report suggests Cadillac is developing a successor to the CT5-V Blackwing, though key details about its powertrain remain unknown.
According to GM Authority, citing sources familiar with the matter, the next-generation CT5 lineup will include a new Blackwing variant.

Cadillac has already confirmed a new internal-combustion CT5 is in development but has not officially announced whether V-Series or Blackwing models will return.
The current CT5-V Blackwing features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
This combination has become increasingly rare as European rivals phase out V8s and manual gearboxes.
The report does not specify what engine will power the next-generation car, whether the manual transmission will survive, or when it might arrive.

The new CT5 is expected to ride on the updated Alpha 2 platform, which could also underpin a future Chevrolet Camaro sedan.
Additionally, GM is reportedly evaluating a new Buick sedan for North America, and the outgoing CT5 architecture could serve as its foundation.
There is also speculation that the Blackwing setup might be used for a modern successor to the Chevrolet SS.
