The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 in Game 3 of their playoff series on Monday, rallying from a three-goal deficit.

Colorado star forward Nathan MacKinnon briefly exited the game with a leg injury.

MacKinnon Injury

MacKinnon blocked a slapshot from Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore with 7:52 remaining in the second period.

The puck struck him directly in the knee, causing him to fall to the ice in visible pain.

He was helped to his feet by teammates and walked to the bench under his own power.

MacKinnon retreated to the locker room near the end of the second period but returned to the bench during the third period.

He played in the final frame, though observers noted he appeared to operate at significantly less than 100 percent during a critical Avalanche power-play opportunity.
