The host Kelowna Rockets and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens face a crucial matchup on Sunday night in Kelowna, British Columbia, as both teams search for their first victory in the round-robin stage of the 2026 Memorial Cup.
Following opening-game defeats for both squads, the contest has quickly shifted into urgent territory for the participants attempting to capture the Canadian Hockey League championship tournament.

Chicoutimi entered the tournament after a stellar regular season featuring 49 victories and a 16-4 playoff run, but dropped a 5-3 decision to the Everett Silvertips on Saturday evening.
"It's a new day," said Tomas Lavoie, Chicoutimi Sagueneens defenseman.
Lavoie, a towering draft prospect for the Utah Mammoth, recorded over half a point per game from the blue line during the postseason and remains confident despite the initial setback.
"We forget about what happened yesterday," said Lavoie.
The Sagueneens aim to rebound by increasing their physical intensity against a larger Kelowna lineup, while monitoring the performance of goaltender Lucas Beckman after he allowed two soft goals before stabilizing late in Saturday's game.
"We deserve our place here for sure," said Lavoie.
The defensive unit must also support forwards like Maxim Masse and Nathan Lecompte, who looks to recover from a late-game turnover that resulted in an empty-net breakaway goal for Everett.

"I think we have to bring more compete and effort in our game and I think we have a good chance to win games if we do that," said Lavoie.
