Amazon officially launched its 48-hour Prime Big Deal Days discount event on Tuesday morning.

The sale offers substantial price cuts across consumer electronics, home appliances, and proprietary devices for subscriber members worldwide.

The annual sales period, commonly known as October Prime Day, features price reductions on popular brands including Apple, Dyson, Ninja, Philips, and Blueair.

According to product tests and price tracking analysis, discounts apply across categories ranging from smartwatches to air purifiers.

Event Details and Access

The shopping event is scheduled to run through Wednesday, October 7, ending at 23:59.

Access to the temporary promotional pricing strictly requires an active Amazon Prime subscription, which costs £8.99 monthly or £95 annually.

Non-members can participate by signing up for a 30-day free trial.

Discount verification guidelines require included products to feature price drops at least 10 percent below their six-month average cost.

Independent tracking tools such as Keepa and CamelCamelCamel were utilized to verify genuine savings against inflated recommended retail prices.

Major discounted items include the Tapo RV50 Omni Pro robot vacuum at 32 percent off its average price and the Hoover HMC5 Mattress Vacuum Cleaner at a 36 percent reduction.

Additional savings cover smart home tech like the Apple Watch Series 11, reduced by 23 percent from its average cost.

"Lightning Deals are short promotions, typically lasting between four and twelve hours, or shorter if inventory sells out," said James Gurd, retail analyst.

While competing UK retailers have launched parallel promotional offers during the same week, most major competitors have refrained from direct price-matching policies.

The two-day Amazon event traditionally signals the start of broader seasonal price drops leading into Black Friday and Boxing Day shopping periods.
