Amazon has begun immediate sales and preorders for its redesigned Kindle e-reader lineup and accessories, a launch tied to the product family's 20th anniversary.

The retail giant opened orders on Oct. 1, 2026, with delivery dates set for late October.

The updated basic Kindle and Kindle Kids models are available to buy right away through Amazon and Best Buy.

Preorders have also opened for the redesigned Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Colorsoft, and their respective kid-friendly editions.

Those shipments are scheduled for release on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

New Designs and Color Options

The refreshed devices introduce slimmer, lighter form factors along with new color variants including ube, alpine sky, and seaglass green.

The entry-level Kindle now features a flush-front screen and an optional aluminum backing.

That aesthetic option was previously restricted to the higher-tier Signature Editions of the Paperwhite and Colorsoft ranges.

Retail pricing for the upgraded hardware remains identical to the previous generation's rates.

Those rates had recently experienced price increases ranging from $30 to $50 driven by a global memory shortage.

Alongside the hardware refresh, Amazon introduced new e-reader accessories starting at $35.

The line features a standalone page-turning remote named the Kindle Click and a dedicated cover with physical page-turn buttons.

It also includes a sling bag fitted with a miniature Kindle charm and a double-model charging stand for the Paperwhite series.

The charging stand currently requires shoppers to sign up for email notification updates pending an official launch date announcement.
