Milwaukee completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, booking the Brewers' first World Series trip since 1982.

The result also intensified scrutiny on Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, whose in-game decisions came under fire during the series.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy responded by defending his counterpart, calling the expectations placed on Los Angeles an exceptional burden.

Murphy said the Dodgers' sustained success made the pressure on Roberts especially demanding.

"Nobody has a tougher job than Dave Roberts. Nobody has a tougher job.

It's win the whole thing or bust," Murphy said.

Roberts' Record and Series Decisions

Roberts entered the season with three World Series titles in seven years, five pennants in 10 years and 10 division titles.

Those accomplishments helped establish the championship expectations that followed the Dodgers into the 2026 postseason.

The series, however, raised questions about his in-game management.

In Game 2, Roberts intentionally walked Brice Turang to face William Contreras.

In Game 3, he left Blake Snell on the mound for an extended period, while his Game 4 approach drew criticism for not using all available resources more aggressively.

Milwaukee's performance showed the effectiveness of Murphy's approach against a heavily favored opponent.

The Brewers had struggled against Los Angeles the previous year but proved better equipped to handle a seven-game postseason format in their latest meeting.

Former Alabama football coach Nick Saban praised Milwaukee's fundamentals and ability to manufacture offensive opportunities.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Saban highlighted the team's defense, speed and consistent contact at the plate.

"I never did think anybody could beat the Dodgers, but they swept them," Saban said.

Saban also saw similarities between Murphy's management and his own coaching philosophy, with both emphasizing accountability and consistent effort.

Earlier in the season, Murphy benched All-Star catcher William Contreras after he failed to run out a ground ball.

The decision illustrated Murphy's willingness to discipline established players regardless of their standing on the team.

Murphy's approach helped the Brewers end Los Angeles' pursuit of another championship and secure Milwaukee's return to the World Series for the first time in 44 years.
