No. 9 West Virginia University baseball will face No. 21 Arizona State University in the Big 12 Conference tournament semifinals on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Surprise Stadium in Arizona.

The winner advances to the championship round.

The Mountaineers secured their spot by defeating Kansas State University 4-2 in the quarterfinals.

Pitcher Maxx Yehl threw 6.1 innings, and Ian Korn closed with 2.2 clean innings.

Mountaineers Rely on Chansen Cole

Right-hander Chansen Cole is the expected starting pitcher for West Virginia. He previously allowed only one run over 5.1 innings against Arizona State earlier this season.

Head coach Steve Sabins called it a "luxury" to start Cole in game two, indicating Cole will get the ball for the semifinal.

Arizona State advanced by beating the University of Cincinnati 10-2, recording 12 hits and capitalizing on four Cincinnati errors.

West Virginia won two of three games against the Sun Devils during the regular season series in Tempe.
