Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. exited Friday night's game against the Colorado Rockies due to left hamstring tightness.

The injury occurred during the sixth inning at Chase Field. Colorado first baseman TJ Rumfield hit a looping 73 MPH fly ball to shallow left field.

Gurriel sprinted and made a feet-first sliding catch for the first out, but grimaced in pain upon standing.

A trainer and manager Torey Lovullo evaluated Gurriel on the field. He walked off under his own power without assistance.

Before leaving, Gurriel accounted for both of Arizona's runs with a 1-for-1 performance, including an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.

Jorge Barrosa entered the game to play center field, moving rookie Ryan Waldschmidt to left field.

Barrosa and Tim Tawa are expected to handle most outfield reps if Gurriel misses extended time.

The injury comes nearly nine months after Gurriel underwent ACL surgery on his right knee in September 2025.

He returned quickly from that surgery but has struggled in 2026, posting a . 228/.

Diamondbacks outfield depth remains thin. Jordan Lawlar is recovering from a fractured wrist.

Options from Triple-A Reno, such as Tommy Troy or Kristian Robinson, could see opportunities if Gurriel lands on the injured list.
