The expanded 48-team competition will feature both players following their departures from Kenilworth Road last summer.

Chong's Journey to Curacao

Chong, 26, switched international allegiance to his birthplace last year after previously representing the Netherlands at youth level.

The former Manchester United winger made 69 appearances for Luton and currently plays for Sheffield United.

Curacao, managed by Dick Advocaat, enters the tournament as the smallest nation ever to qualify, with a population of just over 150,000.

The 82nd-ranked Caribbean team begins Group E play against Germany on June 14, followed by matches against Ecuador and Ivory Coast.

Aasgaard's Norway Call-Up

Aasgaard, 24, earned his spot in the Norway squad alongside Premier League stars Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.

The midfielder moved to Scottish Premiership club Rangers last summer after scoring twice in 17 games during a six-month stint with Luton.

Norway manager Stale Solbakken previously indicated that Aasgaard needed to play above League One level to secure international selection.

The squad announcement was delivered through a social media message from the King of Norway.

"Through persistence and belief comes rewards.

Thank you to all the good people around me for the support, family for the love, doubters for the fuel.

Can't wait to be back in a Norway top on the biggest stage #worldcup," Aasgaard said.

Norway will launch its World Cup campaign in Boston against Iraq on June 16.
