Tennis fans expressed widespread frustration as ticket prices for the 2026 US Open Tennis Championships soared to record-breaking highs during the American Express presale on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Massive virtual waiting rooms saw over 400,000 people queuing on Ticketmaster, leaving many unable to secure standard-rate seats for the tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

Price Hikes Across the Board

According to reports from TicketNews and Pro Football Network, early-round grounds passes that historically cost between $25 and $60 have risen to face values of $65 to $135, with secondary markets pushing past $230.

Mid-tier seats originally priced at $600 last year were inflated by dynamic pricing algorithms to $2,400, while prime lower-level seats for the finals are fetching over $10,000 on resale platforms.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) did not directly address the price inflation complaints.

Instead, the official 2026 attendee guides provided alternative instructions for individuals unable to purchase initial inventory.

"RELAX, THERE’S RESALE: You can always secure a verified resale ticket from Ticketmaster… resale ticket prices fluctuate, depending on demand," stated the USTA guide.

General public ticket sales are scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 12 p. m.
