NASCAR has indefinitely suspended 23XI Racing senior account manager Evanna Howell following her arrest for allegedly hitting a 77-year-old man with a golf cart at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, May 23, hours before the Coca-Cola 600 race sequence began.

According to court records, the 35-year-old intentionally struck the victim, causing a severe laceration.

Howell faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury.

She was released from Cabarrus County jail on May 26 after posting a $125,000 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for June 16.

NASCAR's Response

NASCAR issued the indefinite suspension in its weekly penalty report, citing a violation of behavioral section 4.4 A.

The governing body stated that penalties apply to actions detrimental to stock car racing, including physical violence and significant criminal charges.

NASCAR noted it will not pre-judge guilt while reviewing the context of the matter.

Both NASCAR and 23XI Racing have not publicly commented on the arrest or disciplinary action.

Howell has worked with 23XI Racing, co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, since November 2021.

Despite the off-track situation, 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick leads the Cup Series points standings after winning five of the first 13 races this season.

Co-owner Denny Hamlin is second, while Bubba Wallace and Riley Herbst hold 13th and 27th positions, respectively.
