Major League Baseball has suspended Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Abner Uribe for one game and issued an undisclosed fine following an inappropriate celebration during Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The incident occurred after Uribe secured the final out of the eighth inning in a 6-0 victory, when he performed a crotch-chop gesture toward the opposing dugout.

The 25-year-old reliever is currently appealing the suspension, which was scheduled to take effect during Friday's road game against the Houston Astros.
Manager's Reaction
Brewers manager Pat Murphy expressed strong disapproval of Uribe's behavior during a post-game press conference.
"I don't know what got over him," Murphy said. "He's an emotional guy, but that kind of thing, that's just not how we do things.
I'm embarrassed by it."
Murphy emphasized that such actions are unacceptable, regardless of the game situation. "It's a 6-0 game.
What are we doing there?" he added.

Despite his disappointment, Murphy acknowledged Uribe's positive contributions. "I love the kid.
There's so much good in him. He's been great for us, but that's unacceptable," Murphy said.
"For his teammates and everything, it's not going to be tolerated."
Uribe's Apology and Allegations
Uribe issued an apology through an interpreter on Tuesday night, while alleging that St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol had signaled his players to intentionally hit Brewers batters during Monday's game.
Marmol declined to comment on the matter.
The final pitch of the eighth inning on Tuesday remained valid after a failed challenge by the Cardinals.
