The victory allowed St. Louis to secure two out of three games against their National League Central rivals.

Starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore earned the win to improve his record to 3-3.
He threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings while giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out four batters.
Reliever Hunter Dobbins secured his first professional save by pitching the final 3 2/3 innings.
He allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts.
Dobbins was recalled from Triple-A Memphis earlier that day.
JJ Wetherholt and Ivan Herrera led the offense with two hits and two runs each.
Alec Burleson contributed two RBIs, including a run-scoring single off reliever Ethan Roberts in the third inning.
Masyn Winn extended the lead to 5-0 in the third inning with a two-run single.

Jordan Walker drove in a run during a two-run first inning.
Chicago starter Jordan Wicks took the loss to fall to 0-2 after giving up three runs and four hits over two-plus innings.
Alex Bregman provided the lone run for the Cubs with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Bregman extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
The Cubs, now 3-2 since halting a 10-game losing skid, will return home on Tuesday night to start a six-game homestand.
They will face the Athletics with right-hander Jameson Taillon scheduled to pitch against left-hander Gage Jump.
The Cardinals remain at home to start a three-game series on Monday night.
