Ali shared advice from his father regarding the importance of high performance as a professional athlete, stating that on-field success guarantees selection.
"My dad always said to me that if you score a lot of runs, teams have to pick you, and that's the main thing for a professional cricketer, to perform," Ali said.
The player concluded by stating that the ultimate goal is to eliminate demographic barriers so all players can participate equally.
"You just want to make it easier for everyone, give them the idea that no matter what background you are from, no matter what you look like, no matter what you do, there is no sort of barrier in the way.
That's what it is about and that's how it should be," he said.
Ali has already contributed to Yorkshire's three opening victories, recording a 35-ball half-century against Derbyshire alongside strong bowling economy rates.
The veteran all-rounder stated that winning the T20 Blast at this stage of his career would rank among his finest sporting achievements.
"If I can come to Yorkshire and help us win the Blast within the next couple of years that will be amazing.
That will be one of my best achievements as a cricketer. I'm at the back end of my career and just want to win trophies," Ali said.

Yorkshire is scheduled to face Lancashire in a Roses match at Headingley on Friday.
