The fixture represents a significant competitive imbalance between the four-time world champions and the Caribbean nation making its first appearance on the global stage.

The pressure remains heavy on Julian Nagelsmann's side following consecutive group-stage exits for Germany at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Management responsibilities have since shifted to Nagelsmann, who previously guided the squad to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals where they extended ultimate champions Spain into extra time.

Germany secured their spot in the tournament by winning five out of six qualifying matches.

Despite the smooth qualification process, questions persist regarding the starting forward position and the performance of 40-year-old goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Curaçao's Debut

Curaçao, a CONCACAF nation with a population of just over 150,000, qualified for the finals after securing a 0-0 draw against Jamaica last November.

Their subsequent tournament placement lands them in a highly competitive group alongside Germany, Ecuador, and the Ivory Coast.

The debutants are managed by 78-year-old Dick Advocaat, who will establish a record as the oldest manager in World Cup history.

The roster features several players with English football experience, including Sheffield United's Tahith Chong alongside brothers Leandro and Juninho Bacuna.

The squad also received confirmation that former Brighton and PSV striker Jurgen Locadia is cleared to participate in this opening fixture.

The player successfully appealed a three-match suspension originally received for a red card against Scotland.
