PSV Eindhoven is targeting a fourth consecutive Eredivisie title, but defensive concerns persist ahead of the new season.

Analysts have proposed several transfer options to strengthen the backline.

Key Recommendations

Former defender Timo Letschert and VoetbalPrimeur editor-in-chief Dennie van Laar shared their insights on the #DoneDeal podcast.

They emphasized the need for experienced Dutch talent.

Letschert suggested Sam Beukema from Napoli as a suitable option. "A pricey guy, but perhaps you can reach a solution, for example with a loan," he said.

Beukema's ambition to make the Dutch national team could be a motivating factor.

For younger prospects, Letschert mentioned Thijmen Blokzijl from Groningen. However, he cautioned that such players cannot be relied upon for a full 40-match season.

Van Laar highlighted Lutsharel Geertruida as a top target.

"If Bosz could choose one person to bring in for that position right now, he would blindly go for Geertruida," he said.

Geertruida, who left Sunderland and returned to Leipzig, could be available if he does not secure a new club soon.

Geertruida's versatility—able to play on the right and in midfield—makes him an ideal fit for manager Peter Bosz's system.

Free agents like former Ajax player Takehiro Tomiyasu are also under consideration.
