Henk Fraser has been named the new head coach of Suriname's national football team, with the goal of qualifying for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The appointment was announced on July 29, 2026.

Fraser replaces Henk ten Cate, who failed to secure a World Cup berth after losing to Bolivia in the intercontinental playoffs earlier this year.
The Surinamese Football Association (SVB) cited Fraser's international experience, leadership, and vision as key factors in his selection.
Coaching Background
Fraser previously served as assistant coach to Stanley Menzo in 2025, making his return as head coach a familiar one.
He also worked as an assistant for the Netherlands under Louis van Gaal.

Earlier in 2026, Fraser took his first international head coaching role with Chinese club Shaanxi Union.
His club coaching career includes stints at ADO Den Haag, Vitesse, Sparta Rotterdam, FC Utrecht, and RKC Waalwijk.
Playing Career
Born in Paramaribo, Fraser played for Sparta Rotterdam, FC Utrecht, Roda JC, and Feyenoord. He made 138 appearances for Feyenoord between 1990 and 1999.
Fraser earned six caps for the Netherlands and was part of the squad at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
