A standard BMW M2 fitted with the new M Performance Track Kit has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife faster than the M2 CS, despite having no extra power.
The kit focuses on aerodynamic and chassis upgrades for serious trackday performance. BMW says every component was developed alongside its M division engineers.

The lap time of 7:25.068 over the 12.94-mile (20.83-km) circuit puts it half a second ahead of the recently launched M2 CS, setting a new benchmark for the model.
Conditions were far from ideal during the record attempt on May 22, which was independently verified by TÜV Rheinland.
High ambient and track temperatures, along with oil traces in the T13 section, made the run more challenging.
No Extra Power, Just Better Hardware
The M2 achieved this feat without any power increase over the standard car.
The M Performance Track Kit includes an adjustable front splitter, aero flicks, a manually adjustable swan-neck rear wing with a Race Mode setting, and a new coilover suspension.
BMW says the suspension uses motorsport-derived dampers while retaining road legality, allowing owners to drive to and from the track.

BMW M engineers worked alongside the M Performance Parts team, with aerodynamic testing in BMW's wind tunnel.
Chassis tuning was done by BMW M test engineer and Nürburgring specialist Jörg Weidinger, ensuring maximum precision and stability at the limit.
While half a second on such a long course is not earth-shattering, the car had no power upgrades.
M2 owners now have a new way to achieve this level of performance without buying the special CS trim.
