Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther is actively seeking a move away from the club this summer.

The 30-year-old German was informed on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, that his current contract will not be extended.

Wellenreuther's agreement runs until mid-2027.

He views the management's decision as a clear sign that he is no longer the guaranteed first-choice goalkeeper under new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

According to FR12. nl, Feyenoord does not need to sell Wellenreuther immediately.

However, the club is completely open to a departure if a suitable transfer offer arrives during the current window.

Wellenreuther's Time at Feyenoord

Wellenreuther originally joined Feyenoord from RSC Anderlecht in 2022 on loan. He finalized a permanent transfer the following year for approximately one million euros.

During his tenure, he made 125 official appearances, secured 37 clean sheets, and conceded 161 goals.

He recently became team captain under former manager Robin van Persie while Justin Bijlow was injured.

Media in the Netherlands and Germany report that Feyenoord has identified 23-year-old Hertha BSC goalkeeper Tjark Ernst as their primary target to take over as starter.

Ernst reportedly has a five-million-euro release clause in his contract.
