Zelenskyy linked the decision to Ukraine's critical energy needs ahead of winter. He stated that after consultations, Koretsky is the best prepared person for the position.
The political overhaul has sparked backlash from civil society and international allies. This follows the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, whose six-month tenure saw notable battlefield successes.
Fedorov's removal has caused public anger amid reports of a dispute with Ukraine's top military commander, Col. Gen.
Oleksandr Syrskyi.
