Donald Trump has again called for the passage of the Save America Act, a bill aimed at strengthening voter identification requirements and election security.

The proposed legislation would mandate strict voter ID rules and require states to submit voter rolls to the Department of Homeland Security.

It also introduces penalties for election officials who fail to verify citizenship.

The Save America Act is a revised version of last year's Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (Save) Act.

A federal court recently blocked Trump's attempt to implement the measure via executive order.

House Republicans have since linked the bill to a separate spending measure, passing both along party lines.

Support and Opposition

Republican Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee voiced strong support, urging citizens to contact their senators.

“We are going to lose our country if we don’t pass the dadgum Save America Act,” he said, as reported by The Guardian.

Democratic leaders quickly condemned the initiative. Former Vice President Kamala Harris stated, “The 2020 election was not stolen; we won and he lost.

The Save Act is voter suppression. It is part of a larger agenda of conservatives trying to steal power from the people.”

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker also criticized the bill, saying, “Tonight, Donald Trump reminded us again just how desperate he is to steal the midterm elections.

The so-called Save America Act isn’t about stopping fraud, it’s about stopping voters.”
