Director Christopher Nolan brought the global promotional tour of his upcoming film, The Odyssey, to Mumbai on July 11, 2026, to engage directly with India's vibrant cinematic audience.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker expressed a long-standing admiration for the city's unique cinematic devotion during a press conference attended by IGN India.

Nolan indicated that choosing India as a destination for the world tour required little deliberation.
"Oh, well that's easy," said Nolan.
"I first came to Mumbai years ago, brought by my friend Shivendra to do a conference about the future of film.
They had a lot of filmmakers, and I really got to know a little bit about the film culture here."
The initial trip made a permanent impact on the director, who observed that the enthusiasm for cinema in Mumbai surpassed any other global location.
He noted that the ongoing promotional activities fulfilled a strategy originally designed during the production of his previous movie, Tenet.
"We actually intended to come with Tenet, originally because we filmed here in Mumbai. And then because of the pandemic, we weren't able to," said Nolan.

The global health crisis disrupted those initial travel schedules despite several sequences of Tenet being shot on location in Mumbai.
The current promotional cycle provided the filmmaker with a renewed opportunity to execute his original intention.
"So finally, we're actually able to. It's a thrill.
We've been wanting to do this for years," said Nolan.
