New York Giants defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris suffered a torn Achilles tendon during an Organized Team Activities practice on Thursday, May 21, 2026, according to Dan Duggan of TheAthletic.

The 10-year veteran had been working with the first-string defense before the injury.

Recovery from a torn Achilles typically takes 9 to 12 months, likely sidelining him for the entire 2026 season.

Impact on Giants Defense

Robertson-Harris, 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, is in the second year of a two-year, $9 million contract signed in 2025.

He started all 17 games last season, recording 35 tackles and one pass defensed while playing as a B-gap defender or 5-technique end.

His loss compounds the team's defensive line issues after trading star Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Giants have now lost both starting defensive linemen from last season.

To address the depth, New York signed veteran free agents D. J.

Reader and Shelby Harris, claimed Zacch Pickens off waivers, and added Leki Fotu and Sam Roberts.

Younger players like defensive tackle Darius Alexander and sixth-round rookie Bobby Jamison-Travis are expected to compete for increased roles in training camp.

Robertson-Harris is the second Giant to suffer a torn Achilles this month; undrafted rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon sustained the same injury on May 14.
