The Oklahoma City Thunder is evaluating multiple roster options on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, ahead of the NBA Draft as the franchise aims to position itself for another championship run in 2027.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Oklahoma City is discussing a potential trade with the Dallas Mavericks to swap the No. 12 and No. 17 overall selections for Dallas' No. 9 pick.
The prospective deal comes as the Thunder faces an impending roster crunch, making it difficult to absorb multiple first-round selections after finishing the regular season with a league-best 64 wins.
Prior to the draft discussions, Oklahoma City executed its first roster adjustment by sending guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for two second-round draft selections.
The transaction marked the first departure from the core lineup that secured the 2025 NBA championship before falling just short of the NBA Finals during the 2025-26 campaign.
Daily Thunder reported that "The 55th pick in the 2021 draft, Wiggins embodied the hard-work development program that has defined the Thunder's championship rebuild more than top-end draft selections of tanking eras past."
The trade received a B grade from ESPN analyst Zach Kram, while additional rumors compiled by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype link Lu Dort to interest from the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets.
Scotto further reported that opposing franchises are monitoring guard Isaiah Joe, while forward Kenrich Williams is anticipated to generate market interest should Oklahoma City decline his contract option.
Concurrently, top draft prospects finalized their pre-draft schedules, including guard Darryn Peterson, who conducted a solo workout for the Washington Wizards and held interviews with the Utah Jazz.
Peterson addressed the media on Monday regarding his restricted workout schedule and his outlook on joining the league.
"Just a decision that was made," said Darryn Peterson, Draft Prospect.
Peterson clarified that he held meetings with the Jazz, which holds the No. 2 overall selection, characterizing the interaction as a combine-style interview rather than an active court session.
"I'm definitely not dodging any team. Whoever takes me, I'm going to come in and be delighted to be there.

Meanwhile, Illinois guard Keaton Wagler confirmed the cancellation of his workout with the Brooklyn Nets due to expectations of being selected within the top five draft positions.
"I already worked out for the Bulls, and I was going to the Clippers. That's four and five," said Keaton Wagler, Draft Prospect.
Wagler noted that he continues to communicate and meet with various franchises despite adjusting his workout itinerary.
"Hearing from them and knowing where I stood, I knew I didn't need to work out for [the Nets].
But still meeting with teams and talking to them," said Keaton Wagler, Draft Prospect.
