"We are treating it as a Test match and the training week has been no different in the mindset and intensity," Tandy said.

"I am happy with the group and the potential that we have, but we want to get better and we have to go faster in what we are doing," Tandy said.

"Momentum has been built but we are still nowhere near where we want to be, so it's exciting to test ourselves against the leading nation in the world in South Africa, Argentina are up there and so are Fiji," Tandy said.
The men's competitive selection process will trim the summer squad early next week before the core group travels for the international windows.
"We want a competitive group and we want competitive selections," Tandy said.
Women's Side Seeks to End Losing Streak
The women's team welcomes back influential back-row forward Alex Callender as captain after she recovered from a major ankle injury that forced her to miss the Six Nations tournament.
"I put no pressure on myself to come back for a game," Callender said.
The experienced forward intends to guide a youthful lineup that features five uncapped players, including Amy Williams and Kelsie Webster in the starting backs.
"This would've been a bonus if fit, so I am looking forward to the weekend," Callender said.
The fixture marks an important development opportunity for the women's side before facing South Africa and the USA in Cardiff this coming September.
"I just want to go out there and enjoy it, I am putting no pressure on myself.
Hopefully I can have a good run out and really enjoy the game with the girls," Callender said.

"It has been tough but it's part and parcel of the sport," Callender said.

"Lynny was unbelievable with me throughout the Six Nations and I was in with the group, helping as much as possible," Callender said.

"It will be a mixed squad this weekend and that's so exciting for the future," Callender said.

"Having that development pathway will be good for strength in depth, which we have lacked in some positions over the years," Callender said.
The team is motivated by the prospect of playing at the historic venue before beginning a brief rest period ahead of pre-season training.
"It's going to be a great occasion.
I've played at Twickenham once before with Harlequins and it's a great stadium to play at," Callender said.
Lynn has explicitly challenged his selected matchday squad to deliver tangible performances to justify their inclusion in the senior setup.
"It's a massive opportunity for us to showcase what we have been working on as a new group with lots of young players," Callender said.
Lynn has secured only one victory in 15 Tests since taking charge in March 2025 and requires a positive result to spark their upcoming autumn campaign.
"For us to go to Twickenham on Saturday and beat the Barbarians is everything," Lynn said.
The coaching staff intends to evaluate individual performances directly from live match scenarios rather than relying strictly on training camp evaluations.
"I don't want to be coming into pre-season where an individual has trained really well but we've got no evidence from a game, so that's what the squad is selected on," Lynn said.

"Certain individuals have put their hands up, and that's why we're going to give their reward," Lynn said.

"You want to be playing against the best and learning from the best, but we also want to be making sure that we put our best foot forward," Lynn said.

"We all want to be winning, that's what it comes down to in Test match rugby," Lynn said.
