The San Jose Sharks have added veteran forward Mason Marchment on a five-year contract worth approximately $40 million, the team announced Wednesday.
The deal, first reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, brings the 30-year-old winger to his sixth NHL franchise.
Marchment split last season between the Seattle Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets, recording 19 goals and 45 points in 68 games.
Over his seven-year NHL career, the Uxbridge, Ontario native has totaled 95 goals and 234 points in 370 games with the Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Kraken, and Blue Jackets.
His previous contract was a four-year, $18 million deal signed with the Stars in the 2022 off-season.
The move also carries personal significance for the Marchment family.
His late father, Bryan Marchment, previously served in both on- and off-ice roles with the Sharks organization before his death.
Mason Marchment is expected to provide veteran leadership and scoring depth to a Sharks team in transition.
