Dutch rapper Lil Kleine has disclosed that he reached out to fellow artist Boef for permission before starting a relationship with Boef's former fiancée, Selma Omari.
The revelation came in Lil Kleine's new documentary titled 'Lil Kleine: Terug', released on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Scholten, whose real name is Jorik Scholten, contacted his close friend during the early stages of his romance with Omari to clear the air and ensure there was no animosity between them.
"I sent him a message to let him know that I'm having a good time with her and that I could stop it, because we were still in an early stage," Lil Kleine said.
According to the documentary, Boef responded positively to the message, showing maturity and supporting his friend's new relationship.
"He replied that he really appreciated my message and that I should do my thing," Lil Kleine added.
The relationship sparked intense speculation on social media due to the strong bond between the two rappers, especially after Boef supported Scholten when the latter faced public cancellation.
Scholten opened up about the immense difficulty of finding romance while constantly under public scrutiny, noting that his extreme fame usually disrupts traditional courting.
"For me, it's impossible to date someone because I'm too famous," he said.
Despite his usual reservations about being spotted by paparazzi, Scholten stated that he feels comfortable being seen in public places like the Jordaan district or the Izakaya restaurant with Omari without hiding behind sunglasses.
"I'm just having a really good time with her. I really like her and I appreciate her.
So I want to find out for myself what exactly that is," he said.
The musical artists recently collaborated closely on a new music video, a process that Scholten described as natural because they have known each other for a long time.
"Everyone knows that I'm having a good time with her. That's it," Lil Kleine said.
The rapper also addressed a previous strain in their relationship caused by his own actions when he posted social media footage of himself drinking heavily on a boat surrounded by other women.
"At that moment I was drunk and I thought: this is cool. Selma didn't like that and she was absolutely right.
That wasn't very smart," he admitted.
