Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc claimed his first Formula 1 victory in nearly two years at the British Grand Prix on Sunday, capitalizing on a mechanical setback that hampered championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

The race at Silverstone saw Leclerc overtake Antonelli at the start, dropping the Mercedes driver to third.

Antonelli mounted a late-race charge but reported a critical steering issue that a pit stop could not fix, causing him to fall back through the field.

Max Verstappen spun into the gravel while running third, further altering the race dynamics.

Mercedes Battle and Safety Car Finish

George Russell secured second place for Mercedes after choosing not to pit when teammate Lewis Hamilton changed tires, preventing a Ferrari one-two finish.

Hamilton crossed the line third on fresh tires but could not challenge further as the race ended under safety car conditions.

Leclerc's victory is his first since the United States Grand Prix in October 2024.
