Norway held Brazil to a scoreless draw in the World Cup Round of 16 on July 5, 2026, in New Jersey.

Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland was the hero, saving a first-half penalty from Bruno Guimaraes.

The penalty was awarded after a VAR review when Kristoffer Ajer fouled Matheus Cunha in the box.

Vinicius Jr. handed the ball to Guimaraes, but Nyland denied him from the spot.

Both teams had chances, including a disallowed early goal for Norway.

Patrick Berg scored, but it was ruled out for offside against Alexander Sorloth in the buildup.

Television commentator Lee Dixon noted the slow pace in the second half.

"I think I could play at this pace," said Dixon on ITV.

The winner of this match will face England in the quarter-finals, if England beat Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.
