King Charles III is facing public backlash and intense palace management during Prince Harry's visit to the United Kingdom from July 6 to 11, 2026.
The trip follows disputes over royal accommodation and a major High Court ruling.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in London alone for events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.
He had just lost his High Court privacy case against Associated Newspapers Ltd.
The visit was immediately complicated by a public dispute.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry stated that an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was withdrawn after he formally accepted it.
Palace sources refuted the claim, saying Harry missed the deadline to accept the accommodation.
This left him to arrange private security after the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures refused official protection.
New YouGov polling revealed that 48% of the British public believe Harry should be allowed to stay at Buckingham Palace.
Meanwhile, 27% say he should be barred.
Royal commentators reported that palace aides do not trust Harry alone with the monarch.
Private secretaries have been placed on standby to micromanage and cut short any face-to-face meetings if conversations become uncomfortable.
British royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that any interactions between the King and his son would be strictly overseen by courtiers.
"Every interaction will need to be managed, even to the minute, by courtiers and those whose job it is to protect the monarchy," she said.
Fordwich noted that only strictly formal encounters are currently expected by the palace team. "Merely polite meetings are more plausible," she added.
She explained that the institution prioritizes continuity over individual family dynamics.
"They are far more concerned with the overall institution and continuity than the feelings of any one family member," Fordwich said.
She concluded that the Duke of Sussex should be well aware of these long-standing operational protocols. "This has been the case for generations.
Harry should know better," she said.
Separate Royal Itinerary for Isle of Man
Separately, King Charles is scheduled for a historic first official visit to the Isle of Man as Lord of Mann.
Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer expressed anticipation for the visit.
"The first official visit by His Majesty The King as Lord of Mann is a significant moment in the history of the Island and for our community," Sir John Lorimer said.
He noted that the visit reflects the enduring relationship between the Crown and the island.

Sir John Lorimer said he looks forward to showcasing the warmth and spirit for which the Isle of Man is renowned.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan MHK emphasized the constitutional importance of the monarch's visit.
"The King's visit is a proud occasion for the Isle of Man.
As Lord of Mann, His Majesty holds a unique place in the constitutional life of our island," Cannan said.
He stated that many residents will welcome the chance to witness the historic occasion.
