Guest host Tiffany Haddish fired back during Wednesday's broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live after the White House issued an official response dismissing a joke she made about President Donald Trump.
The dispute arose after Haddish mocked a photograph of the president's heavily bruised hands during her Tuesday monologue, linking it to the U.
S. soccer team's World Cup elimination following a review requested by Trump.
White House Spokesperson Dismisses Comedian
Haddish opened her follow-up segment by expressing excitement that her comedic material had caught the attention of executive officials.
“The president is very focused on issues that matter right now and, apparently, I'm one of them,” said Haddish.
“I got a shoutout from the White House today! For real, y'all, for real!”
The comedian explained that the administration had reacted formally to her routine from the previous night, issuing an official statement about the joke.
According to USA Today, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed the comedian when asked by reporters to comment on the late-night monologue, asking, “Who the hell is Tiffany Haddish?”
Haddish aggressively pushed back against the remarks, citing her career credentials as a high-profile figure and fashion model.
“Who am I? Huh?
Huh? I'm the bitch you walk past to get to your coach seat, motherf---er!”
said Haddish. “Who am I?
I'm a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, that's who I am.”
The host further questioned the identity and relevance of the government representative who released the statement.
“Who am I? Who the f--- is Davis Ingle, huh?
Who is that? Is that a new character on Little House on the Prairie?
But your ass is in the White House? You're in the wrong house!”
said Haddish.
Haddish concluded the segment by jokingly comparing her administrative backlash to the professional history of the show's permanent host.
“The White House is mad at me,” said Haddish. “This is the day that I finally become Jimmy Kimmel.”
She then inquired whether an administration-ordered removal from television would affect her weekly pay, recalling Kimmel's suspension in September.
