Luke Littler unveiled a mural at Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington on Thursday, days after winning the 2026 World Matchplay in Blackpool.
The tribute appeared after his grandmother spotted the artwork while it was being prepared.
The world champion arrived in his home town to take part in the unveiling of the large artwork painted on the side of the shopping centre.
His grandmother had already seen it first, according to multiple reports.
"It's amazing," said Littler.
"My nan was on the bus going past yesterday and she got off to speak to the guys."
Littler said his grandmother later phoned his father, helping the family learn about the mural ahead of the official event.
"Then she phoned my dad and mentioned it, so she saw it before all of us," said Littler.
He added that the moment still surprised him and that he was happy the tribute had been created in Warrington.
"We all can't believe it," said Littler.
"I think the old Luke Littler wouldn't have ever thought about this happening, but it's happened and I'm very happy about it."
On the competition stage, Littler was at his most dominant last week as he added the World Matchplay title to the World Championship, UK Open, Premier League and World Masters crowns he had already won in 2026.
ESPN reported he averaged 111.53 in his final victory over Gerwyn Price and threw 66 maximums during the tournament, both of which were described as records.
Sky Sports said Littler matched Phil Taylor's Matchplay record average of 106.31 in Blackpool with an average of 111.04.
Sky Sports also reported that he had won every PDC title in 2026 so far, including the World Cup, and that he pointed to a possible drive for a majors clean sweep.
"I'm feeling very good. The clean sweep is very much on," said Littler.
BBC Sport reported that Littler was aware of comparisons to Phil Taylor, the 16-time world champion widely regarded as darts history's greatest player, and he said he remains himself.
He spoke after the mural unveiling in Warrington.
"It's amazing to see the comparisons with Phil Taylor, but I am just myself," said Littler.
Littler signed his name on the artwork and posed for photos with fans at the town centre.
His next scheduled action was set for Leicester on the Pro Tour on August 25 and 26 at Players Championship 27 and 28, as he sought qualification for the Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
