Former NFL defensive lineman J. J.
Watt raised doubts Thursday about whether the Pittsburgh Steelers would trade star linebacker T. J.
Watt.
He also questioned the organization's overall roster strategy following the unexpected trade of cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
Appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, Watt addressed potential trade rumors regarding his brother.
He dismissed the idea that Pittsburgh is looking to move the marquee defender, saying, "I would highly doubt that."
Watt clarified that he holds no insider information regarding front-office operations.
However, he voiced confusion over the franchise's direction following the late Wednesday trade of Porter.
Pittsburgh entered the season with quarterback Aaron Rodgers alongside established veterans Cam Heyward, T. J.
Watt, and Jalen Ramsey, signaling a push for immediate contention.
Watt asked, "Is this an all-in operation to go win right now or are you trying to do like this mini rebuild?"
He added that he remains uncertain about the team's overarching plans.
The trade of a key starting cornerback without securing a comparable replacement leaves Pittsburgh caught between competing immediately and initiating a roster overhaul, according to Watt.
