Kid Rock has revealed the tracklist for his upcoming Christian rock album 'Halfway 2 Jesus,' and it includes a new collaboration with Eminem on a song titled '7 Sins.'
The 17-track project marks the Detroit artist's first venture into Christian music.
The album features songs such as 'Freedom,' 'Why Don't You Look Into Jesus,' 'Me and Jesus,' and 'God Bless the USA.'
In the album's foreword, Kid Rock explained why he valued the guest appearance.
"I'm proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem," Kid Rock said.
"His verse speaks to something we've talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we've stayed friends through it all."
The track reunites the two Michigan artists, who previously collaborated on the 1998 song 'F--- Off' from Kid Rock's album 'Devil Without a Cause.'
Kid Rock later made a cameo appearance in Eminem's 2013 music video for 'Berzerk.'
The singer said the joint track carries a message for listeners.
"We hope that sets an example for people who've lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently," Kid Rock said.
The lead single, 'James 1:17 (Jesus is King),' debuted on streaming services with a music video filmed at Kid Rock's Honky Tonk in Nashville.
The video features a performance alongside Pakistani children affiliated with Miraculous Love Kids and is dedicated to keyboardist Jimmie Bones and a fan facing an inoperable brain tumor.
Kid Rock said the idea for the single came during a late-night session.
"I got out of bed at 2 a. m.
one morning, and about 30 minutes later, I had this song," he said.
The announcement of the faith-based project coincides with online discussions about the singer's past lyrics and public statements.
Criticism surfaced on social media referencing his 2001 track 'Cool, Daddy Cool' and previous television appearances, alongside comments following his recent tribute to the late country musician David Allan Coe.
An official release date for 'Halfway 2 Jesus' has not yet been announced.
A countdown clock on Kid Rock's official website points toward an October 17 event.
