Michael Douglas has disclosed in his memoir One Helluva Ride that he had an affair with Basic Instinct co-star Jeanne Tripplehorn during the production of the 1992 film.
The 82-year-old actor wrote that the relationship took place while he was separated from his first wife, Diandra Luker.
According to Fox News, Douglas stated that he was involved with Tripplehorn rather than Sharon Stone, whose on-screen pairing with him had fueled public speculation.
Tripplehorn played police psychologist Dr. Beth Garner in the film.
Douglas described his feelings for Tripplehorn as intense and said he considered ending his marriage for the relationship.
He wrote that the relationship continued during filming but ended after production concluded, and the two later moved in different directions.
Douglas added that he continued to view Tripplehorn positively after their relationship ended.
Kathleen Turner Relationship Also Disclosed
The memoir also includes Douglas' account of his relationship with Kathleen Turner while they worked together on the 1984 film Romancing the Stone.
He wrote that the two had previously denied the relationship.
Douglas wrote that the relationship developed during the pressure of making the film and involved mutual respect and attraction between the two actors.
Douglas and Luker later divorced after their separation, with Luker filing for divorce in 1995.
Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones in November 2000, and they share two children, Dylan and Carys.
