The Los Angeles Rams activated safety Quentin Lake for their Monday night matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Oct.

12, 2026.

Lake was available after dealing with a hip injury during the week, giving the defense a key option in Los Angeles.

The Rams released their Week 5 inactive list before the game, with Lake cleared to face Buffalo.

Lake missed Thursday and Friday practices before becoming a limited participant Saturday and entering the game listed as questionable.

Rams coach Sean McVay described the injury as minor and said the safety was improving.

"I feel like he's turning in the right direction and feels good so that's a positive for us," McVay said.

McVay also explained that the team managed Lake's workload because of his heavy defensive usage.

Lake had played every defensive snap for the Rams through the first four weeks.

"We're just being smart with him," McVay said. "He's played so many snaps.

We just wanted to be smart."

According to Sumer Sports, Lake ranked second among safeties with 12 impact plays through four weeks and led the position with seven pass breakups.

Pro Football Focus also rated him as the highest-graded safety entering Week 4 with a 91.1 overall defensive grade and a 92.7 coverage grade.

Defensive Flexibility and Other Returns

Lake's availability gives defensive coordinator Chris Shula more flexibility in using multiple-safety formations.

Pro Football Focus data cited by sports. yahoo.

com showed Lake had recorded 67 snaps in the box, 71 snaps at free safety, and 41 snaps in the slot.

The Rams also listed cornerback Jaylen Watson as returning after missing Week 4 with a dislocated shoulder.

Defensive lineman Aaron Donald and tight end Colby Parkinson were also expected back after missing time because of injuries.

The Rams inactive list included rookie wide receiver C. J.

Daniels, tight end Max Klare, offensive lineman Bill Murray, defensive lineman Larrell Murchison, and quarterback Ty Simpson.

Simpson remained the emergency third quarterback, according to the team's reported list cited by Roundtable.

Los Angeles entered the game needing its secondary to slow Bills quarterback Josh Allen, with Buffalo holding a 3-1 record.

A victory would give the Rams their first back-to-back wins of the 2026 season, according to Roundtable.
