Henry Brothers has secured three infrastructure projects at His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde in Scotland to improve security facilities, including ballistic shelters.

The work starts immediately under a £2.55 million programme awarded by Babcock International Group on October 12, 2026.

The projects cover security fencing upgrades for a key support building, installation of specialist ballistic security shelters across Faslane, and refurbishment of an existing Pressure Test Building, according to UK Defence Journal and Love Belfast.

The investment supports facilities used by the Royal Navy’s Vanguard class ballistic missile submarines and Astute class attack submarines.

The Ministry of Defence described the Clyde work as part of a multi-decade programme.

Henry Brothers Regional Director for Scotland Nick McKeown said the projects reflect Babcock’s confidence in the company’s ability to deliver secure defence infrastructure.

"Being appointed to deliver these new projects at HMNB Clyde reflects the trust Babcock places in Henry Brothers and our capability in delivering complex, secure and highly specialised infrastructure," said McKeown.

McKeown said the company has defence sector experience and will focus on strengthening operational facilities for the submarine fleet.

"Our workforce has extensive experience across the defence sector, and we remain committed to ensuring the Royal Navy’s operational facilities are robust, resilient and fit for purpose," he said.

The appointments expand Henry Brothers’ work with Babcock at the Clyde estate and form part of ongoing modernisation efforts.

The company said the projects are intended to support secure and dependable submarine facilities.

"These new appointments strengthen our partnership with Babcock and underline our shared focus on delivering high-quality, dependable facilities for the submarine fleet," said McKeown.

According to UK Defence Journal, the wider Clyde transformation includes the former Finnart Oil Terminal on Loch Long, which will support relocation of mine hunting equipment and autonomous systems from 2028.
